국제청소년연합(IYF)의 대학생‧청소년 문화교류 프로그램인 ‘IYF 월드캠프’가 9일(토) 서울 잠실 실내체육관 폐막식을 끝으로 7일간의 일정을 마무리했다.
IYF 월드캠프 참석자들과 서울시민 등 1만5천여 명이 참석한 폐막식은 우크라이나, 인도, 미국 등 각국의 문화공연과 클래식 음악이 어우러지는 ‘그라시아스 콘서트’로 진행됐고, 정병국 전 문화체육관광부 장관, 국회의원 박성중과 우간다 국가인도부 장관, 파라과이 교육과학부 차관 등이 축사했다.
밝고 건강한 인성을 갖춘 글로벌 리더 양성을 취지로 매년 여름 한국에서 개최되는 ‘IYF 월드캠프’는 지난 2년간 온라인으로 개최됐고, 코로나 팬데믹의 완화와 함께 지난 3일(일) 부산 벡스코에서 개막식을 갖고 7일간 진행됐다.
60개국 3천5백여 명의 참가자들은 IYF 설립자 박옥수 목사의 ‘마인드 강연’과 명사 초청강연, 클래식 음악과 각국 전통 댄스 등 문화공연, 한국의 K-Culture를 비롯해 각국 문화를 체험하는 ‘아카데미’와 시민들과 함께하는 ‘세계 문화 체험 박람회’ 등 다양한 프로그램을 통해 글로벌 리더의 자질을 체득했다.
에콰도르 참가자 슐리는 “월드캠프를 통해 한국 문화를 자세히 알 수 있었고, 한국인들의 정신을 알 수 있었다. 전 세계에서 온 학생들과 지내면서 문화의 다름과 이를 받아들이는 법을 배울 수 있었다”고 참석 소감을 밝혔다.
케냐에서 온 모린은 “처음 방문한 한국에서 전 세계의 다양한 문화를 경험할 수 있었고 친구를 사귈 수 있었다. 특히, 마인드 강연을 통해 배운 마음의 자세가 나를 어떤 어려움에서도 건져낼 수 있을 거라 기대한다”고 말했다.
미국에서 제니퍼는 “코로나 팬데믹 이후로 나에게 가장 큰 행운이 있다면 월드캠프에 온 것이다. 월드캠프는 상상 그 이상의 행복과 기쁨을 주었다. 이번에는 혼자 왔지만 다음에는 친구, 가족들과 함께 하고 싶다”고 말했다.
행사 기간에는 제8회 ‘세계 대학 총장포럼’과 제10회 ‘세계 청소년부 장관포럼’이 개최돼 ‘IYF 월드캠프’의 의미를 더했다.
14개국 38개 대학의 총장과 부총장, 학장 등 교육 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 8일 개최된 ‘총장포럼’에서는 ‘미래의 리더에게 필요한 마인드교육’이라는 주제로 대학교육에 인성 교육을 어떻게 접목시킬 것인지 심도 있게 토론했다.
25개국 26명의 청소년‧교육관련 부처 장‧차관들이 참석한 ‘장관포럼’에서는 ‘청소년 문제와 해결책’을 주제로 각국의 다양한 사례들이 발표됐고, 사고력과 자제력, 교류를 핵심으로 하는 ‘마인드교육’이 날로 심각해지는 청소년 문제의 대안이라는 데 의견을 모았다.
이번 행사를 주최한 국제청소년연합(IYF) 관계자는 “3년만에 대면 행사로 개최된 이번 월드캠프를 통해 세계 각국의 대학생과 청소년들이 직접 만나 ‘사고력’과 ‘자제력’, ‘교류’를 몸소 체험했다”며 “IYF는 청소년들이 밝고 건강한 마음을 가질 수 있도록 세계 각국에서 활동할 것이다”고 밝혔다.
2001년 설립된 국제 청소년 단체이자 NGO인 IYF는 기독교정신을 바탕으로 전 세계 청소년들을 국제적인 감각을 가진 리더로 성장시키며, 각국이 처한 청소년 문제의 해결을 위해 각국 정부와 함께 청소년 인성교육 프로그램인 ‘마인드교육(Mind Education)’을 추진하고 있다.

IYF World Camp, a cultural exchange program for university students and youth of the International Youth Federation (IYF), ended its 7-day schedule with the closing ceremony of the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on the 9th (Sat).
The closing ceremony, which was attended by 15,000 people including IYF World Camp attendees and Seoul citizens, was held as a 'Gracias Concert' in which cultural performances from countries such as Ukraine, India, and the United States harmonize with classical music. Congratulatory speeches were given by Park Seong-joong, a member of the National Assembly, Uganda's Minister of State and Humanitarian Affairs, and Paraguay's Vice Minister of Education and Science.
The 'IYF World Camp', held every summer in Korea with the purpose of cultivating global leaders with bright and healthy personality, has been held online for the past two years, and with the alleviation of the corona pandemic, the opening ceremony was held at BEXCO, Busan on the 3rd (Sunday). Maureen from Kenya said, “When I first visited Korea, I was able to experience various cultures from around the world and make friends. In particular, I expect that the attitude of mind I learned through the mind lecture will be able to rescue me from any difficulties.”
Jennifer from the United States said, "If I have the greatest luck since the corona pandemic, it's coming to the World Camp. The World Camp gave happiness and joy beyond imagination. This time I came alone, but next time I want to go with friends and family.”
During the event, the 8th 'World University Presidents' Forum' and the 10th 'World Youth Ministers' Forum' were held, adding to the meaning of 'IYF World Camp'.
At the 'Presidents' Forum' held on the 8th with the participation of education officials such as presidents, vice presidents, and deans of 38 universities in 14 countries, the subject of 'mind education needed for future leaders' gave an in-depth look at how to incorporate character education into university education. discussed vigorously.
At the 'Ministerial Forum' attended by 26 youth and education-related ministries and ministers from 25 countries, various cases were presented under the theme of 'Youth Problems and Solutions' and 'Mind Education', which focuses on thinking, self-control, and exchanges. An official from the International Youth Federation (IYF), which hosted the event, said, “Through this World Camp, which was held as a face-to-face event for the first time in three years, college students and young people from around the world met in person to experience ‘thinking skills’, ‘self-control’ and ‘interaction’. “IYF will work in various countries around the world so that young people can have bright and healthy minds.”
